International Architecture Award for Innovative Interior Design Concepts
The 11th contractworld.award competition has been announced for 2011. Prizes will be awarded for the best design concepts in three main categories: progressive work environments, creative hotel and restaurant interiors, and innovative shops and exhibition stands. The additional entry category this year covers exciting and exceptional interior architechtural solutions for conversion project involving sacral, cultural and public buildings such as churches, monasteries, hospitals, prisons and railway stations, as well as derelict industrial buildings. An appraisal of such project attaches particular significance to a responsible approach that respects both urban traditions and sensibilities and the cultural and social meaning of the existing structures. It is important that, in addition to the widely acknowledged goal of sustainability, due consideration be given to these aspects in projects of this kind.
