Project: ierra, Tokyo/Japan 

The hairdressing salon "Tierra" is located right inside Tokyo City. A whole series of hairdressing chairs are lined up inside a clearly structured space. A separate area is accessed through a screen of filigree arches. These arches, infilled with mirrors, are continued along both long walls of the salon. In complete contrast the remaining wall surfaces and ceiling are rough-rendered in warm earth tones.

The jury's verdict: "The image of a hall of mirrors has resulted in a wealth of formal inventions, which at the same time contrive to accommodate all the objects of everyday use in a seemingly effortless way."
