Prize Award Ceremony with Winners from across Europe
The first prizes in the contractworld.award 2009 have gone to entrants from Japan, France and Portugal. This coveted international architecture award was presented to the winners at the official prize-giving ceremony in Hannover on 17 January 2009.
The contractworld.award is Europe's most lucrative award for interior design work, involving a total of 60,000 euros in prize money. The jury considered a total of 570 projects, including 293 from countries other than Germany.
Numerous top architectural and interior design offices had submitted their projects, and fourteen prizes were awarded in all, including two special awards. The jury appraised innovative interior design concepts in four categories.
The first prize in the category "Offices/Administration buildings" goes to the office of junya.ishigami+associates in Japan for the project "The Kanagawa Institute of Technology".
Two special awards were presented this year for the second time. These are intended exclusively for "New Generation" entrants (architects/interior designers under the age of 40). Young contenders from Great Britain and Spain received awards in this category for their innovative, avant-garde projects.
There is also a new film available: Members of the jury present all 14 projects of the prize winners 2009.
