Moderation: Andreas Ruby, architectural writer and critic, Berlin,Germany

Andreas Ruby is an architectural critic and theorist. After reading art history at the University of Cologne, he went on to study the theory and history of architecture at the Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris under Paul Virilio, and at Columbia University in New York under Bernard Tschumi.
From 1999 to 2001 he was editor of the architectural journal Daidalos. In 2001 Andreas and Ilka Ruby set up their agency "textbild" as a production facility for publishing architectural books, magazines and essays, curating exhibitions and consulting architects.

Andreas Ruby has taught architectural theory and design at the University of Kassel, Cornell University (Ithaca/NY) and the Ecole Polytechnique Féderale in Lausanne. He is currently teaching in the Metropolis program at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Since 2002 Andreas Ruby has been a member of the editorial board for Werk, Bauen + Wohnen. Since 2006 he has served on the advisory committee for the German Museum of Architecture and in 2007 was appointed to the panel of judges for the Hans Schäfer Prize for Architecture.
