Alejandro Zaera Polo, Foreign Office Architects (FOA), London, UK

Alejandro Zaera Polo studied architecture in Madrid and in Harvard until 1991. In 1995 he teamed up with Farshid Moussavi to found the practice Foreign Office Architects in London. FOA is an internationally active architectural office, which specializes in the analysis of present-day urban situations, lifestyles and construction technologies. The office's list of references ranges from small private houses to department stores, office complexes, urban parks and auditoriums. Completed projects include the renowned Yokohama International Port Terminal in Japan and the Barcelona Forum Park in Spain.

In addition to his work as an architect, Alejandro Zaera Polo is currently Chairman of the Berlage Institute; he also teaches at various schools of architecture around the world.
