Prof. Petra Kahlfeldt, Kahlfeldt Architekten, Berlin/Germany

Prof. Petra Kahlfeldt, born in 1960, studied architecture from 1979 to 1985 at the Technical University of Berlin and at the University of Florence. Since 1985 she has worked in various architectural offices in Berlin and has been an academic assistant in the Department of Design and Building Construction at the Technical University of Berlin. In 1997 she was awarded a scholarship to study at the German Academy Villa Massimo in Rome.

From 2001 to 2003 Prof. Petra Kahlfeldt was President of the Association of German Architects (BDA) in Berlin and since 2004 has been Sutor Professor for the Care of Historic Monuments and Design at the College of Fine Arts in the HafenCity, affiliated to the University of Hamburg. Since 2000 she has been a member of the planning committee in the town of Ostfildern and a member of Berlin's regional commission for historic monuments.

The architectural office Kahlfeldt Architekten was established in Berlin in 1987 and is run by Petra Kahlfeldt and her partner Paul Kahlfeldt. The office provides planning services for all types of construction projects. As well as offices, administration buildings and housing projects, the practice also designs for retailing and exhibition spaces and is much involved in architectural competitions.
