Project: kempertrautmann.haus, office and commercial building, Hamburg/Germany
Third prize of Category "Office"
kempertrautmann.haus is located in the heart of Hamburg, close to the prestigious Jungfernstieg quarter and the Inner Alster Lake. The nine-storey building accommodates offices and shops on a prime site that had stood vacant for years. It thus fills a gap in the inner city's business and shopping heartland. The developers have created a transparent building that affords fine views of the Alster Lake from its upper floors. The offices are open-plan, allowing the flexible positioning of desks and workstations appropriate to the communicative character of advertising work. The reflections off the movable glass walls create the impression of space.
The jury's verdict:
"The interior design of the offices permits the flexible use of space and is of a very high standard (...) André Poitiers has shown great flair and assurance in designing an outstanding commercial building in a sophisticated setting."
