Prof. Erich Schneider-Wessling


Prof. Erich Schneider-Wessling studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich and in the USA under Frank Prof. Erich Schneider-Wessling, Architekten im Bauturm, KölnLloyd Wright. In 1968 he founded the 'Bauturm', in 1969 he set up the study group 'Urban Living' (Urbanes Wohnen). His office has received numerous awards, e.g. the architectural prize Building with Concrete (1996) and the BDA Good Buildings award from the BDA Bonn Rhein/Sieg (1998).

In 2003 the office was awarded the Brandeburg Architectural Prize. While a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Erich Schneider-Wessling developed the curriculum for the study of 'real architecture' (1980). In 1999 he was appointed to the Academy of Arts in Berlin and has remained a member to this day.

In 2002 he formed a partnership with Uli Herrmann. Their most important projects to date include the Bayer communication centre in Leverkusen, the German Foundation for the Environment (Deutsche Bundesstiftung für Umwelt) and the Nikolaizentrum in Osnabrück.
