Prof. Laurids Ortner


Prof. Laurids Ortner studied architecture at the Technical University of Vienna.Prof. Laurids Ortner, Ortner & Ortner Baukunst, Wien/Berlin

From 1970 to the end of the 1980s he and his brother Prof. Manfred Ortner and Günter Zamp-Kelp ran the Studio Haus-Rucker-Co. Together with his brother he then set up the architects' office Ortner & Ortner Baukunst in Vienna and
Berlin. It won several prizes, including the City of Vienna's own Architecture Prize in the year 2000.

In 2003 the office was awarded the German Natural Stone Prize. Since 1987 he has taught as a professor at the State Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf. Among various outstanding projects, his office is responsible for the museum district in Vienna, the Dresden State and University Library as well as the Zurich Arts and Culture Centre and the Zurich Theatre.
